yes, you could build it cheaper- by just guessing all the measurememets widths /thicknesses etc.
of course the materials are gonna be cheaper than buying a frame, but most of the money you pay for a frame is the R and D sidde of it, and all the complex machinery doing precision cuttings etc.
Anyone can cut and weld a couple of steel tubes together, getting it right however, is far from easy...

yeah that's a good point, most BMX frames look very similar but they ride quite differently, because of variations in tube diameter and wall thicknesses, and tube butting, plus the slight differences in geometry (most modern BMX frames have 74-75 degree head angles)
you would have to use the same parts on a couple of different Bmx frames to really understand the differences between them, as most riders run slightly different setups which can disguise the differences in the frame
even changing your tire pressure by 5psi on a bmx can make the difference between your bmx feeling good in a concrete bowl, or feeling like its drifting as you carve the vert of the bowl |

if i can be bothered i pump up the tyre on my bmx to like 100 for park. though with street it gets a bit bumpy with that much pressue. i still dont like it below 60. specially 180ing sets bigger than 3...
o yeah, being getting the pegless grinds going on these sick new marble ledges in camberley 2 sessions there and I have what you might call, double axle grinds to nose manual bonk thing out. very short single axle grind bonks. what you might call pegless feebles super slick. nearly have feebles to 180 out, and im working on feebles to barspin out.. always amuses the drunk on the weekends.... hehe.
dont worry rob, your frame is still holding up great . though the rest of my bmx is a joke, lol. its sooo sketch but I love it/cant afford to fix it. I just spend money that was meant to go on my bike, on a pink panther suit for whistler. scoooooore. haha.
