hey

iv been looking/wanting a new bike for quite some time now and have got very steresed with myself!!! Evil or Very Mad lol, iv only ever riden a hardtail but really wanna get a full suss, but they are very expensive and i would quite like to have a ht for street/dirt, however i do a huge amount of single track, down hilling, freeride aswell as dirt/street, i think i have cut it down to a few options......

option 1:- buy a kona bass and start up-grading as it is quite reasonalbe(put my brothers year old pikes on it aswell), and then think about getting a new 24inch dj bike.
option2:- buy an allround very well speced hard tail(sidekick, dialled holeshot ect,) and then wait a very long time untill i can get a fully.

plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help, if anyone has first hand experience of the kona bass please tell me what you think of them and what the suspension is like!!!!!!!!!!!

the bass is very similar/identical to the old cowan ds, they dont pedal very well becuase the linkage works around the bb, the howler would probably be more suited to the riding you said, i use mine for everything and it pedals well, pikes are a good choice

I have never rode or know someone with a kona bass but my advice would be to go to a demo day or atlest have a ride in a bike shop on one.

I don't know you but if you have rode quite a bit and would rather a day at the forest doing some gnarly drops or some crazy fun downhill rather then doing a street sesh or a day at the bmx track then get a dual sus.

The kona bass should be just right if you want to move on to full susser as it can handle most things but also consider a long travle hard tail with adjustable forks if you want to do a bit of everything.

Sorry that I didn't ansew your question and all I did was confuse you, but no one can ansew your question except your self.     Rolling Eyes

I think short travel full sussers are great,

Try looking for different brands, Bottle rockets and doubles from transition are worth a look, while kona are good, you could possible get a little more for your money looking at what other companies have to offer,

Get a ht if you want to do everything. A 26 hardtail with gears will be a good do it all. I mean you dont need 24s to ride street and trails.

Also riding a ht is an awesome way to build up skills, jumping straight onto a full sus can make you lazy

thanks for all the help guys

iv been rideing a hardtail ever since i started and really wanna try a full sus, i WOULD rather have a day at a dh track or do some drops but i would also want to go to the dirt jumps, do you know any other companies who do things like the kona bass, would the banshee rampant be a good idea. also i would quite like to keep the feel of a hardtail, so getting a slightly cheaper fully would enable me to keep a hardtail.

thanks
